What we can
do for you
When your child isn’t sleeping well, it can be all-consuming. I know because I have been there. Whilst it really may not feel like it at times, your little one does want to sleep. All children have both the need and the ability to sleep well - it’s just that some require more help than others to realise their sleep potential.
The good news is that helping your child achieve great sleep does not need to be an ordeal.
It’s often said that it takes a village to raise a child. Whether your village comprises family members, friends or other new parents you’ve met along your pregnancy or parenting journey, everyone will have a view regarding what you “should” be doing to help your child sleep. Many will have shared that opinion with you - maybe more than once. And let’s not even get started on what the internet has to offer!
All-too-often, two extremes are presented: leave your child to cry or resign yourself to the fact that they will, eventually, grow out of hourly waking, even if that takes several years. No children are the same and when it comes to sleep, the factors driving sleep challenges, and in turn the best solution, are as diverse as the children themselves. It is always possible to achieve biological best sleeping (which respects a child’s age and developmental stage) using gentle approaches where you work with, rather than against, your child - and where you support and respond to them, every single step along the way.
At Little Sleep Stars, we know a lot about sleep. But you are the expert in your child. We will achieve the best outcome for your family because I will listen to you, work with you and respect your priorities and parenting style.
I will never recommend you leave your child alone to cry.
If your current sleep situation isn’t bringing your family the rest it needs, book a free introductory call to discuss how things can be gently turned around. If you are based outside of the UK, please note that all diary times are GMT/BST.
The last thing you need is another person telling you things you don’t believe will work.
That’s why I offer a complimentary introduction call so you have the chance to share what’s happening for you and little one right now and understand how I can help.
Because your time with child is precious, we do this in a 15-minute call so you can get a feel for what we can do together. On that call I will either make a recommendation for you to rule out some of the common health reasons your baby might not sleep or invite you to find out more about how we can work together.
Imagine giving the gift of a good night’s sleep, the most useful gift for new or expectant parents!
Think of this as a live “what to expect” where you discover what is “normal” for baby sleep and how you can gently optimise sleep from the outset.

How to Nail a Bedtime Routine
A consistent and positive bedtime routine can be one of the most valuable tools in your parenting kit. Contrary to a number of claims I have heard, I don't believe that any particular book, sleep spray or similar will magically make your little one sleep through the night, but a well-crafted bedtime routine can make a huge difference to how well a baby or child sleeps. Here is the why, when and how for the perfect bedtime routine.Continue reading...
How to Help a Colicky Baby
Many, many of the little ones I work with either are suffering or have suffered with infant colic. My own son was colicky and I consider the weeks he suffered as, hands down, the hardest part of my parenting journey. Like so many parents, I was told that colic is just "one of those things" that affects some babies and needs to be waited out. Knowing what I do now, I so wish I hadn't accepted that explanation - that I had understood that colic is a symptom rather than a diagnosis. In this article in conjunction with Becky Palmer from Happy Sleepy Baby, learn more about what colic actually is and how you can help your little one through it.Continue reading...
I would highly recommend Little Sleep Stars. Lauren has been so fantastic and the changes in our little girl's sleep has been life-changing all thanks to her. Our seven month old baby was waking hourly, sometimes two to three times an hour. Following Lauren's excellent advice and support she started waking two to three times a night within a week. After a month or so of implementing changes to her sleep routine and naps she was then able to wake just once and now sometimes sleep through the night. Lauren supported us every step of the way and gave us the confidence and knowledge to help our baby sleep without using any controlled crying. Although the process has involved some hard work on our parts it has been much easier than we imagined and we are so grateful for Lauren's help. Thank you!
We contacted Lauren at little sleep stars when our daughter was 7 months old. We were completely exhausted, burnt out and feeling desperate! Our daughter woke up on average every 45 mins and would only settle on my breast. We were co-sleeping out of desperation rather than choice (poor hubby was delighted to the spare room) and we knew the whole situation wasn't working for us as a family. We needed professional help. From the initial consultation with Lauren, we knew we had found someone who understood and could help us. The detailed plan that Lauren set out for us meant we needed to give our daughter more structure, and this was the best thing for us all. Lauren also discovered that our daughter had a "blocker" which was how we discovered that she was actually suffering from silent reflux which was causing her discomfort in the night. Once this was resolved and we continued to be consistent with our daughter's routine, the wake ups in the night decreased...and guess who is now sleeping in their own room 7pm - 7am! "
When we enlisted the help of Lauren, I had reached crisis point. Our 3 year old had been waking up multiple times in the night for months (despite having previously slept through) and I was pregnant with our second and exhausted. We managed to get an appointment with Lauren almost immediately and had a long chat about the various issues we needed help with. At no point did Lauren make us feel rushed, dictated to, or criticised for the approaches we?d tried in the past, all of which I?d been worried we might experience with a sleep consultant. She was compassionate and understanding of our situation and we immediately felt confident in her ability to help us. By the end of the first session, we had a number of strategies we could immediately put into place, some of which gave us startlingly quick results. Lauren was on hand over the next couple of days to answer any queries we had, checking back in with us regularly. We then had a follow up session a few days later, when we felt ready to begin implementing the next wave of strategies. This supportive approach didn?t end there. Lauren provided timely and detailed responses to all of our queries, helping us to troubleshoot any issues which arose as we went. This wasn?t just limited to sleep either. Our daughter?s sleep improved swiftly and dramatically, only to be replaced with very challenging behaviour during the day, as she pushed the boundaries we had put in place. Far from saying that this was out of her remit, Lauren worked closely with us to help us resolve the behaviour issues we were experiencing. We found her approach to be very adaptable and she opened our eyes to different ways of working with children to avoid it becoming a battle of wills. The marked difference in how much happier and calmer our daughter is now she gets the sleep and rest she needs, and the positive impact it has had on our relationship with her, is testament to Lauren?s skill and experience in this field. We also now have a toolkit of strategies to use, should we experience any blips in the future with either our daughter, or with baby number two. We cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank you Lauren!
Lauren has genuinely given my husband and I a new lease of life! We contacted her when I felt I was not able to function properly due to sleep deprivation when my son was 8 months old. My husband is quite the cynic and felt that we could have just done the sleep training ourselves using published methods, however he agreed to the initial consultation and was instantly sold. His comments 'Lauren knows what she's talking about and I'm glad we enlisted her support'. Lauren listened to the situation we were in and what we wanted to achieve and provided tailored advice and guidance which is exactly what we needed. We went from reluctantly co-sleeping and breast-feeding every two hours through the night to my son being able to put himself to sleep and self settle during wake ups (inevitable) over the night. Having a structured daytime nap schedule which Lauren provided for us and helped us tweak when needed was really useful. I love how flexible she is and explains the difference between daytime and night time sleep. We feel confident and empowered as parents that we are able to support our son to sleep much better. My husband and I have much more energy, enjoy our evenings and are generally much happier - none of which wouldn't have been possible without Lauren. The grandparents are also pleasantly surprised at his new sleep pattern and even though they thought I was a bit 'excessive' consulting a sleep consultant, they now can see the benefits and are pleased too!
With Lauren's help we've managed to finally get to 6am with our 21-month old. Today he woke at 6.10am! Yay! Toby has been an early riser forever, when we first started working with Lauren he had been stuck at 4am for most of his life, which made meeting up with other parents and their children tricky as no-one was up as early as us and then he needed a nap late morning. With Lauren's help we initially got him to 5am and were pleased with that. Then with a final push, we have made it to 6am. We are finally on a normal timescale!
We had hit crisis point with our then almost three year old. We found Little Sleep Stars website and were impressed by it - so took the plunge in contacting Lauren. This was the best decision we made. Lauren's friendly, non-judgemental and professional approach was reassuring. Over time she provided support and helped us create a 'tool kit' of ways to help our little one. We have gone from a crisis to a normal three year old with all the normal ups and downs - but we now have confidence in our ability to help. The benefits of sleep are not over-rated... and we, as a family, are all benefiting! Thank you Lauren.
